Supermassive Games brought a number of factors that make Until Dawn pretty remarkable. They made their first game of their own creation a purposefully trope-laden horror game, one that is a love letter to classic horror movies. Second, they did so by bringing in quality acting talent that comes from television shows like Mr. Robot, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Heroes, 10 Things I Hate About You and Peter God Damn Stormare.

Most importantly, they included a branching narrative arch called the Butterfly Effect, one that shows how even the smallest of decisions can save or kill a variety of characters. It all culminates in a supernatural thriller that subverts expectations, provides genuine thrills, brings a comedic edge to the genre while still respecting its space and it just happens to take place in the glorious mountainous regions of British Columbia, Canada. Did I mention this game has Peter Stormare in it?
