Best Nintendo Games List – #5 Pokemon X & Y

Developer: Game Freak

Publisher: The Pokemon Company

Platform: Nintendo 3DS

Release Date: October 12, 2013

It was important for Nintendo to release their 3DS games worldwide simultaneously (a series first), as the series has evolved into a handheld cornerstone franchise for Nintendo handhelds. Pokemon X & Y brought changes to the series, including the addition of Fairy types to balance against Dragon types, character customization, 3D polygonal graphics and Mega Evolution. Plus, who the hell can deny the adorableness that is an ice cream cone or key chain Pokemon?

On a more serious note, the story takes on a more serious side to it than before, with Team Flare looking to wipe out civilization to keep the planet in a beautiful, healthy state. They seek Mega Stones to harness the power of Xerneas and Yveltal. With a lot more to do than in typical Pokemon campaigns, exciting side quests and 721 Pokemon to capture, it’s a lengthy, enjoyable ride on the path to becoming the very best, like no one ever was.
