The 50 Best Nintendo Games Right Now (Wii U / 3DS)
Best Nintendo Games List – #22 Rayman Legends
Developers: Ubisoft Montpellier, Ubisoft Casablanca
Publisher: Ubisoft
Platform: Nintendo Wii U
Release Date: September 3, 2013
In what would be the last Rayman game Michel Ancel would create for Ubisoft, Rayman Legends returns to a 2.5D format to produce excellent results. Furthermore, this game was originally planned to be a Nintendo Wii U exclusive before the plight of platform sales came into the picture. Regardless, extra functionality via the GamePad was included, making the Nintendo version the de facto way to play.
There are 120 levels to play through in Rayman Legends, the most memorable being rhythm levels. Players would constantly be in motion as Rayman, knocking away enemies in your path to the beat of songs like Black Betty, Eye of the Tiger and Woo-Hoo. Also enjoyable is the freedom to choose levels once unlocked by acquiring teensies, giving players the freedom to play the game at their pace, in their own way. The fact that collectibles flow naturally within a level, combined with the beautiful art style provided by the art design team, make Rayman Legends a quality title.
