The 50 Best Nintendo Games Right Now (Wii U / 3DS)
Best Nintendo Games List – #27 Kid Icarus: Uprising
Developer: Project Sora
Publisher: Nintendo
Platform: Nintendo 3DS
Release Date: March 23, 2012
It would be unfair to call Kid Icarus: Uprising as Project Sora’s best game, because it turned out to be their only title. It also put Masahiro Sakurai in the director’s seat for a non-Smash Bros. title for the only time in the last decade, which served the game well. It’s a third-person shooter on rails but carries more of a character action feel when it comes to inputs. You mostly shoot projectiles with a variety of bows and other sling weapons or swipe at enemies with swords, staffs or other melee weapons.
It’s the speed and intensity that bring the action angle towards gameplay. Plus, with a variety of multiplayer modes via local or Wi-Fi, players can engage in solo or team-based matches to defeat opponents or their angels. Remarkably, a decades-long shelving of the series did nothing to tarnish the viability of Kid Icarus, and it will be interesting to see if another title will be released for the coming Nintendo platforms.
