Best Nintendo Games List – #39 Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Developers: Dimps, Capcom
Platform: Nintendo 3DS
Release Date: March 27, 2011
Just going by the name alone, one would assume this 3D Edition of Street Fighter is a straight-up port. Because it’s a handheld game that uses the touchscreen, however, the input functionality completely changes how this fighting game works and utilizes its mechanics. Pressing down on the inputs allows for characters to use their personal actions and, on Lite play, allow the instant implementation of Super and Ultra moves in each character’s arsenal.
By having the same amount of fighters as the then-current console version, bringing DLC costumes and skins as baked-in content and by using the Nintendo Network and StreetPass functionality for additional content, Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition has been a slow, but steadily ongoing success in an expansion to the handheld market.
