With its colorful costumes, flashy heroes, and diabolical villains, WWE already has much in common with fighting games. WWE SuperCard is going full Shoryuken with an event that will see fan-favorite wrestling stars battle Street Fighter 6's elite martial artists.

From July 17- August 15, the Worlds Collide event will see 13 characters from the iconic fighting franchise enter the card battler. Ryu, Chun-Li, and Luke are among the World Warriors who will step into the squared circle. A Tournament Mode and special challenges will unlock characters and those mighty enough to conquer them all will receive the Raging Demon himself, Akuma. There's even a Car Battle Mode that allows players to unlock rewards through Street Fighter-style vehicular destruction. I don't know why the Street Fighters hate cars so much, but it's tradition.

The new WWE superstar card designs focus on wrestlers who happily share their love of video games and nerd culture through their characters. Zelina Vega is not just a Queen's Crown tournament winner and Women's Tag Team Champion, she does incredible cosplays and wears many of them to the ring. She has done Mortal Kombat's Kitana, Apex Legends' Loba, and entered the 2019 Royal Rumble as Street Fighter's Vega.

Rey Mysterio Jr. often sports comic-book inspired attire, having appeared as The Joker, Black Panther, even the Silver Surfer in ring entrances. He became a comic superhero himself in the recently launched series Luchaverse: Catalyst, which depicts a centuries-spanning battle between luchadors and monsters.

And this crossover wouldn't be complete without an appearance from Xavier Woods. His UpUpDownDown YouTube channel is wildly popular and sees he and his WWE cohorts battle in all manner of games. Woods and his teammates from the New Day have also done some incredibly nerdy entrances. At Wrestlemania 32, they emerged from a giant cereal box dressed as Saiyans from Dragon Ball Z, with Woods even styling his hair to match Vegeta.

WWE SuperCard is available on iOS devices with iOS 12.0 or later and Android devices with Android 5.0. Are you ready to step into the ring?
