That was fast: March PS Plus title NBA 2K24 leaving August 20

There aren't any hard and fast guidelines for when a title leaves PlayStation Plus, but this one is getting attention because of how short a time it was available. NBA 2K24 became a PS Plus Premium title in March and will leave the service on Aug. 20. Considering NBA 2K25 releases Sept. 6, this has some "hey, the first taste is free" feelings. For example, another game leaving PS Plus in August is Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed. It arrived in August 2023 and will leave the service on Aug. 20. By the way, that one is worth playing.
NBA 2K24 has been under fire recently for its monetization tactics, and this short stint on PS Plus will do little to help matters. Yes, pretty much everything game companies do is to get us to play more of their games, but this doesn't feel right.
NBA 2K has also become notorious for how quickly it shuts the servers for its games off. NBA 2K22's servers sunset Dec. 31, 2023. In contrast, EA Sports, another well-known poster child for corporate greed, just turned off the five-year old Madden 20 servers in April. If you're being greedier than EA, it could be time for some self-evaluation. There's been no announcement about NBA 2K24's servers as yet. For those not planning to buy NBA 2K25 right away, NBA 2K24's Mega Bundle Edition is currently on sale for $15.99.
NBA 2K25's Standard Edition, featuring Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum on the cover, is $69.99. A special WNBA Edition with Las Vegas Aces mainstay A'ja Wilson is $69.99 and only available through GameStop.in North America. Vince Carter appears on the cover of the Hall of Fame Edition, which will retail for $149.99. It includes a 12-month NBA League Pass subscription, a Season 1 Pro Pass, and 100,000 VC.
Its MyCareer content features 150 skill boosts, 75 Gatorade Boosts, and T-shirts for Tatum, Carter, 2K25 cover stars design and a Jayson Tatum Electric Skateboard Skin. A MyTeam promo box will include 10 player cards, three Diamond Shoes, three takeover boosts, and one Amethyst coach card.
NBA 2K25 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Switch version retails for $59.99.
