I would have loved to be in the room when somebody said "Wait, it's soccer but with cars!" Thankfully, nobody laughed them out of the room and Psyonix proceeded to laugh all the way to the bank. Rocket League is nothing short of a phenomenon, with more than 60 million registered players.
Epic Games can see when somebody has changed the game and their purchased the IP and developer Psyonix for an undisclosed amount in 2019. Then the pandemic happened, and millions of people stuck at home got to experience this addictive experience.
Rocket League has unveiled the details for Season 16, which begins Sept. 4. The theme is Urban Legends, with everybody from the Mothman to the Chupacabra making an appearance. Players can journey to Drift Woods, a spooky new arena out in the wilderness.
Those who purchase the Season 16 Rocket Pass Premium will automatically unlock the BMW 1 Series Car Body. There's a BMW 1 Series RLE Car Body unlocked later in the Pass. Both BMW bodies will be available for cross ownership in Fortnite at a later date.
The Season 16 theme song is Lie by Mr. Bill and Culprate. It will be in the Featured Shop as a player anthem, and also in rotation on Rocket League Radio.
In keeping with the season's spooky theme, rewards include a Mothman antenna, Darker Disc Wheels, and a Chupacabra Topper. Tournament rewards this season include a Bateye Topper, Gnaw'd Wheels, and the Rocketmancer Goal Explosion.
Season 16 of Rocket League will add more tournament time slots for every region, including weekend tournaments for South Africa. The season runs until Dec. 4. See you on the way to the goal!
