Wade Davis
The Kansas City Royals went to the World Series two years in a row and took home a ring once in 2014 and 2015. One of the biggest reasons they made it so deep into the Postseason twice was because of their bullpen, and Wade Davis was a major part of this. From 2014 through 2016, Davis pitched to a 1.18 ERA (349 ERA+!), 1.86 FIP, and 0.89 WHIP through 182.2 innings. With +9.1 bWAR, Davis led all relievers in three game stretch and had the best ERA+ by 50%.
2015 would be the best year to base a Wade Davis card off of. This is one of the best years from a relief pitcher ever. Only eight relievers have ever posted an ERA under 1.00 in 60+ IP. He also had a 10.4 K/9, 2.7 BB/9, and 4.4 H/9 rate. SDS could give him a Prime series card, a Milestone card for his sub-1.00 ERA season, or a Postseason flashback card for pitching 10.2 scoreless innings in the Royals’ World Series run that season.
