One New MLB The Show Legend For Each Team: American League Central
By Noah Wright
Minnesota Twins
Johan Santana
If the Minnesota Twins get any new legend starting pitchers in 2024, I hope it’s Johan Santana. Santana is arguably the best modern Rule 5 draft pick, as he was taken in the ‘99 draft by the Florida Marlins then traded to the Twins. Santana pitched in parts of eight seasons for the Twins, pitching 1308.2 innings and working to a 3.22 ERA, 3.44 FIP, and 1.13 WHIP, going to three all-star games, and winning two Cy Young awards.
Santana would likely get an Award series card for one of his Cy Young seasons. The better of the two was 2004 as he had a 2.61 ERA, led the league in hits/9 at 6.2, K/9 at 10.5, and had a strong 2.1 BB/9 rate. He also was tops in FIP and WHIP at 2.92 and 0.92, respectively. Although it wouldn’t be a Twins card, he could also get a Milestone series card for his no hitter with the Mets in 2012.
