Little Poppa Pump? WWE 2K24 does Scott Steiner and his fans dirty with reward fiasco
By Brian Allen
A much-anticipated reward in WWE 2K24 is no longer available because it was horribly broken. "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner was a reward in MyFACTION mode, WWE 2K24's answer to Ultimate Team.
Players who unlocked Steiner found a glitchy mess. His Titantron entrance wasn't right, and the ring announcer introduced him as weighing one pound. That might have been mildly humorous. Maybe somebody is ribbing Steiner, who didn't have the best WWE in-ring career.
But his character actually functions as if he weighs one pound. Meaning Big Poppa Pump, a wrestler always bragging that he had the largest arms in the world, can't lift any other wrestler in the game. WWE 2K24 puts wrestlers in various weight classes for a more realistic experience. That way, Rey Mysterio Jr. is not throwing Andre the Giant around the ring.
Making things worse, BPP was only unlockable by defeating Gunther with the Bash in Berlin Sami Zayn card. As you might imagine, said card is not free. So the people who unlocked this messed up, sad imitation of Scott Steiner card likely paid for the privilege.
The event that unlocked BPP got pulled prematurely. I'd assume 2K will release the card again after they've fixed it. There hopefully will be some other compensation as well, because this is not acceptable.
We're all aware that Ultimate Team modes aren't going anywhere, they make publishers millions of dollars. But if you're going to charge people to access content, the bare minimum is making sure the content works.
This is why Ultimate Team, MyFACTION, and the like have turned into curse words for gamers. If WWE 2K has the rights to put Scott Steiner in the game, then just put him in the game. He could have been a reward unlockable in any of the game's countless modes such as MyRISE. Fans would have paid for him as part of DLC.
WWE 2K24 chose the greediest possible way to place BPP in the game and then the card didn't even work. This is more embarrassing than that infamous BPP vs HHH match.
