Does anybody remember boxing video games? As a lifelong fan, I have thrown hands in some special titles ranging from Ring King to Fight Night Champion. For that matter, does anybody remember boxing? I mean the sweet science, not matches pitting washed-up athletes trying to recapture lost glory against YouTubers trying to build their brand. Steel City Interactive remembers. The upcoming boxing title Undisputed may conjure up new fond memories for us all.

Its list of well-known fighters includes Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Roy Jones Jr. Acknowledging the progress in the sport, female fighters also appear and their ranks include Jessica McCaskill, Terri Harper, and Delfine Persoon.

A recent update video revealed Undisputed's fighters will have four classes: Slugger, Out Boxer, Swarmer, and Boxer Puncher. It also outlined a little about two of the archetypes. Sluggers are willing to take more punches to land a knockout blow. Thus, they have more health and deal higher damage. These sound like the kind of fighters who could injure your hand with their head. Cue Ivan Drago telling his trainer that Rocky Balboa is like iron. Swarmers throw punches in bunches, as trainers like to say.

The different fighters will have different in-ring goals and different reactions when things do or don't go as expected. No plan survives first contact with enemy, as military strategist Helmuth von Moltke once said. Boxing legend Mike Tyson would express the same sentiment when he said, "Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

Undisputed is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation and Steam Oct. 11 with the Standard Edition going for $59.99. The Deluxe WBC Edition is $79.99 and offers the now industry standard three days of early access as well as bonus fighters and apparel, including younger versions of Ali, Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarez.
