Buffalo Bills players have some fun sharing their teammates Madden ratings

This is the time of year when players want to have a few words with EA about their Madden ratings. In this video, Dalton Kincaid and Spencer Brown stir the pot a little.

Athletes are, by nature, some of the most competitive people around. They take umbrage at every perceived slight and their teams often support them in doing so. As a sportswriter, I've lost count of many 5'8 athletes magically grew to six feet in the team's media guide. I once worked with a sportswriter who would add an extra yard to a kid's stats every week because his mother complained. He called it "the mama yard."

And lord, when you get athletes started in on their Madden ratings. Well, Dalton Kincaid and Spencer Brown of the Buffalo Bills decided to have some fun with their teammates, and this video is the result:

All the usual culprits are here, from my rating's too low to ridiculous player likenesses. I love the player who says his Madden avatar resembles Wong from Marvel's Dr. Strange movies. The kids and I just watched Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and that checks out.

Now that EA Sports College Football has returned, we will see twice as many athletes trying to prove they are faster, stronger, or smarter than what EA says they are. What's great is that so often sports is about far more than the ratings.

Sid Bream shouldn't be able to score from first unless the following batter hit a triple, but he somehow did. Steve Bono shouldn't ever break a 76-yard touchdown, but that happened. The NBA's Muggsy Bogues' whole career shouldn't have happened, by every statistical measure. He grew into such an icon the Monstars stole his basketball skills in Space Jam - the good one.

Speaking of ratings, we need the RPG stat chart for Spencer Brown. His charisma just pops on screen. I suspect he'll have a lengthy career as a sports broadcaster if that's a thing he wants to do.
