NBA 2K25 on Nintendo Switch is an abomination, because of course it is

The Switch version of NBA 2K25 lags far behind its next gen counterparts.

I get it, 2K Sports. The Nintendo Switch is still a popular console and you feel obligated to keep supporting it. But if you're going to keep putting gutted versions of the game that have almost none of the features of the next gen versions, maybe stop.

The Switch version of NBA 2K25 has MyCareer mode, in theory. It has no cutscenes, no story, and no My City. There's a My Neighborhood but it has no crossplay, limiting you to matches against the small handful of unfortunate people who purchased this version.

Visuals? You know how they look. Some of these guys look like horror movie villains instead of basketball players.

It's the dirty secret for publishers still putting games out on the Switch. It's a console that is not quite as powerful as its next-gen counterparts, but it has a huge install base. They put out stuff that they know isn't quite as good as it would be on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, take their money and move on down the line.

That said, there's a time when you should probably stop. Most sports games have stopped releasing versions for the PS4 and Xbox One by now. From a graphics and power standpoint, the Switch is probably closer to them than the next-gen consoles. Sports games take up insane amounts of power and memory, as anyone who has more than one installed can tell you.

NBA 2K and its sports game brethen should be skipping the Switch at this point. These pared-down versions of our favorite games aren't satisfying anyone.
