The Division Will Have An Open Beta

Ubisoft announced today that their upcoming shooter MMO, The Division, will receive an open beta next weekend (Feb 19-21), just three weeks before its March 8th launch.

Following the success of its closed beta two weeks ago, where anyone who pre-ordered the game was able to roam around the streets of NYC for the weekend, this open beta will be available to download and play for anyone and everyone. That said, Xbox One owners will be receiving a 24-hour early access advantage, beginning February 18th.

All the previously available content from the closed beta will be included, but Ubisoft will also add a new story mission “for players to explore in their pursuit to save the city”. It’s unclear yet if any saved progress from the closed beta will transfer to this upcoming one, but Ubisoft has confirmed that all players who participate in the open beta will receive a “special” in-game bonus that will be available once they pick and play the full title in March.

Ubisoft announced the news via Ubiblog, alongside the release of a trailer which details the various factions that you will encounter in the game. You can check it out below.

The closed beta proved hugely popular, with Ubisoft having to suspend invitations due to such heavy demand, and so we expect the players to flood in at an even higher number come February 19th.
