Twilight Princess To Feature amiibo-Unlocked Bonus Dungeon

Of late, we’ve seen amiibo unlocking more and more playable content. Next on the list is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

In the last year, Nintendo has been growing more and more savvy with the types of things they’ll lock behind amiibo purchases. While initially, amiibo only unlocked bonuses such as character skins or bonus collectables in most games, of late amiibo have been required for actual, playable content. The latest, it seems, is in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, where an amiibo unlocks a bonus dungeon.

Twilight Princess HD is a remake of the original GameCube/Wii title onto the Wii U, so it’s good to see it getting some extra content that wasn’t in the original. According to a posting on Amazon France that has since been removed, tapping the Wolf Link amiibo will unlock something called “The Twilight Cave”. Here’s the translation, from neoGAF:

"Unlock bonuses with “The Legend of Zelda” amiibos: Tap all the amiibos for the Zelda series to unlock bonuses in the game, such as regenerating your life, or getting arrows for your bow. The new Wolf Link amiibo even allows you to get into a new dungeon: “The Twilight Cave”. The data recorded on this Amiibo can even be transfered to the next episode on Wii U."

The Wolf Link amiibo typically comes bundled with Twilight Princess HD, so as long as Nintendo keeps the stock coming, it’s likely that plenty of people will get a chance to check out the Twilight Cave. That being said, we haven’t seen indications of the game and amiibo being sold separately, so if you purchase over the eShop, you may have trouble finding the Wolf Link…and if you just want a hard copy of the game by itself, you may find yourself shelling out the extra for Wolf Link, too.

Oh, and that little tag at the end? Yeah, Wolf Link data will be usable in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda for Wii U! No word yet on how, though.
