Game of the Year #7 – Super Mario Maker
It is everything we have ever wanted. Officially licensed by Nintendo, including all of Nintendo’s usual weird online quirks, Super Mario Maker allows you to build your own Mario levels and even share them online. It must be noted that the online sharing system is quite possibly the worst possible way to make the feature work, but it still does work and the levels people are creating are insane.
Prompting rivalries across the web and in households, Super Mario Maker is very much one of the greatest things Nintendo has ever released about a decade after everyone else realized it would be a great idea. Chase your own version of perfection, but like everyone you’ll probably start at World 1-1.
I started a ton of levels I never finished, but Super Mario Maker is no. 7 on my game of the year list.
