Smash Bros Direct Incoming…For The Last Time
Since the announcement at the last Nintendo Direct of a Smash Bros Direct in December, fans have been waiting with baited breath for what would surely contain the results of the Character Ballot, plus more details on newly-announced Cloud Strife. What we didn’t know until now is that our anticipation was not just for any Direct, but for the final Smash Bros Direct–there won’t be more after this. In a Tweet, Nintendo announced the event:
December 15, at 2pm PT. It’s sad to think that the new additions to Smash are at their end, but for a game with an already-impressive amount of content, we’ve gotten more than our moneys worth of additional characters, stages, and costumes at this point–a year after its release.
There’s no way this Direct will be small. It’s likely we’ll see several new characters from the ballot in the works, each with a stage associated with them, and plenty of new Mii costumes. The additions will probably be rolled out over the course of 2016 as they are completed, and then…that will be Smash Bros on the Wii U and 3DS, for good, until the NX comes along and fans start demanding yet another installment.
For now, I know I’d be satisfied just to see Isaac from Golden Sun join the battle!
