Minecraft Bringing World Building To Wii U

It was really only a matter of time before Minecraft made it to the Wii U. With Telltale Games’ Minecraft: Story Mode available on the console and with the Gamepad seemingly designed just for games like Minecraft, there shouldn’t have been a question (especially since it’s available on every other platform you can think of). At last we have the confirmation that Mojang is dropping its hugely popular world builder on the Wii U, and in time for the holidays.

In their blog post on the subject, Mojang reveals a December 17th release date for the title. Minecraft on the Wii U will come bundled with their six most popular add-on packs (with more to come in the future), and will feature off-TV play on the Gamepad, so you can cart the game around the house similar to how you would on a mobile device.

Minecraft will be purchasable on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99. Future DLC packs will have an additional fee, but (as the posting reminds us) are completely optional.

Get building, Nintendo fans!
