#4 – Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader
Developer: LucasArts, Factor 5
Publisher: LucasArts
Release Date: November 9, 2001
While the first Rogue Squadron game was extremely very well received on the N64, the series peaked with its second iteration as a GameCube exclusive. Set during the original trilogy of films, Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader allowed the player to pilot a variety of classic Star Wars ships while reenacting famous battles such as the Death Star run and the Battle Of Hoth, in addition to providing its own set of unique challenges.
Despite possessing no multiplayer capabilities unlike it’s successor, Rogue Leader’s refined flying mechanics and stunning graphics helped to elevate this series to incredible heights.
A launch title for the GameCube, Rogue Leader entered the UK charts at #1 when it finally released in 2002, going on to sell almost one million copies. The game currently holds a score of 90/100 on Metacritic.
