#6 – Star Wars: X-Wing

Developer: LucasArts

Publisher: LucasArts

Release Date: 1993

X-Wing was the first game of four in this flight combat series, and is notable for incorporating 3D polygon graphics, unlike other popular space exploration games at the time.

The game saw players fighting against the Galactic Empire as a Rebel pilot during the events of the first Star Wars film: A New Hope. The game was set entirely in space, with players occupying a first-person view from inside the cockpit.

Gamers fell in love with X-Wing’s in-depth, precise and enjoyable flying mechanics, as well as its ability to conjure an authentic representation of the Star Wars universe. It was critically acclaimed and won a variety of awards in 1993.
