#26 – Star Wars: Battlefront (2004)
Developer: Pandemic Studios
Publisher: LucasArts
Release Date: September 20, 2004
2004’s Star Wars Battlefront provided the catalyst for one of the most famous Star Wars game series of all time. A multiplayer-based shooter, Battlefront catapulted players into huge Star Wars battles with the intention of allowing the player to feel as though they were a small part of something much bigger.
Battlefront was very popular with fans at release, although it wasn’t without its downsides. A lacking single player element combined with poor artificial intelligence gave this game room for improvement.
Despite this, Battlefront’s popularity couldn’t be denied, and the game scored a very respectable 82/100 score on Metacritic (PlayStation 2), which would be beaten by its successor a few years later.
