At today’s PSX conference, some new information was revealed about Battleborn, Gearbox’s upcoming multiplayer shooter title, including the imminent Battleborn open beta. In Battleborn, you play as a hero fighting to take control of the last remaining star in the universe, at a time when all others have gone out. The game will include competitive multiplayer, but also a solo campaign and co-op capabilities. Co-op can be played both online and locally with split screen.
Battleborn is apparently rife with the well-known Gearbox humor that pervaded Borderlands, promising plenty of laughs. This was evident today with the announcement of a new character, Toby, who is a penguin…in a mech:
The Battleborn open beta on the PS4 will feature Toby and many other characters, and will arrive in early 2016 for anyone with a PS4. Those who play the open beta will not only get to play Toby before anyone else (he won’t be available right at release), but they’ll also receive another mystery character for free, to be released after the game.
Battleborn launches on May 3, 2016 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
