The Game Awards 2015 Game of the Year award goes to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

According to our Gamesided poll, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was set to win the Game of the Year award, and you were correct.

Winning Game of the Year is always an honor, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was up against an extremely tough crowd of games. The nominees for The Game Awards 2015 Game of the Year were:

While very strong, the field of contenders did have some weakness. Both Bloodborne and Super Mario Maker may have been slightly constrained by platform exclusivity, and while generally well-received, Metal Gear Solid V suffered from a lackluster ending.  With its massive hype and recent release, Fallout 4 contested many awards, but bugs and a lack of innovation allowed The Witcher 3 to come out on top.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also took home the award for Best Role Playing Game, but developer CD Projekt red would take home a total of three awards, winning Developer of the Year earlier in the show. That award is also well-deserved after The Witcher 3 saw numerous free content releases, constant bug fixes, and gameplay system improvements to polish away any of the RPG’s few imperfections.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has an insane amount of content to experience, so much so that I described by journey through it in a series of review journals. It’s also my personal pick for Game of the Year, and if you act fast you can get The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at a 50% discount on Steam.
