20 – Pokemon Snap (Nintendo 64)

It’s really a shame we haven’t seen more of Pokemon Snap. This bizarre title had you taking pictures of Pokemon in their habitats, chucking apples and other items at them to get cool poses. Photos were ranked on how close the Pokemon was, how much of it was in the frame, and whether or not it was doing anything interesting. Though Snap has a very small amount of content in it if you know where everything is, at a time when everyone didn’t have an online guide sitting next to them, you could easily spend hours driving through levels, flinging Pester Balls left and right to hunt down that one photo you knew you were missing, or just to test the reactions of the different Pokemon you came across. You could even visit kiosks in Blockbuster and other stores to print off your best photos.

Pokemon Snap was weird, but adorable, and a very unique take on the franchise that brought the world of Pokemon to life in a way we haven’t seen since. I don’t know about you, but I’m still crossing my fingers for a Snap revamp on the Wii U using the Gamepad.
