39 – Learn With Pokemon: Typing Adventure (Nintendo DS)

It’s too bad that this teaching tool wasn’t realized in North America, because for what it was, Learn With Pokemon: Typing Adventure isn’t all that bad. The game is bundled with a keyboard peripheral, and players progress by correctly typing out the names of Pokemon as they appear, gradually moving to identifying them by silhouette or cry. Bosses at the end of each level provide extra challenges, and points are awarded for speed and accuracy.

It’s not a pretty game, nor is its story of collecting Pokemon by being a really good typist particularly compelling, but as a tool for teaching typing, Learn With Pokemon: Typing Adventure was fairly successful. It’s an engaging take on what is otherwise a tedious task, appealing to younger Pokemon fans who want to improve their typing skills in an interesting way.
