Edmonton Oilers
A change in management wasn’t able to help the Oilers in a season in which they failed to meet expectations.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall were left to perform on their own, as both men finished the season on 56 points, with Hall scoring 31 goals during the regular season. The only other highlight was Jordan Eberle, while Nail Yakupov struggled to find the form that he had enjoyed late last season.
Rookie Connor McDavid took a back seat this year, while Nikita Nikitin was awarded the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy at the end of the season.
The Oilers were let down by their defense, despite Andrej Sekera and Justin Schultz’s best efforts. Ben Scrivens had a poor season too, finishing with a GAA of over three goals per game, and backup Cam Talbot didn’t fare much better.
There’s always next season!
