Winnipeg Jets

The Jets failed to improve on last year’s efforts, as their lack of proficiency in front of goal was their downfall. Blake Wheeler was the top goalscorer for the year with just 22 goals for the team. Only two members of the Jets’ lineup were able to break the 20-goal barrier, although Dustin Byfuglien was the stand out player for Winnipeg this year, picking up 52 assists from defense.

Andrew Ladd had a disappointing year by his standards, while Winnipeg’s defense was poor aside from the aforementioned Byfuglien.

Ondřej Pavelec was frustrated by his teammates’ scoring abilities, as he actually posted some excellent numbers in goal with a GAA of 2.050 and a SV% of .932, taking home the Vezina Trophy in the process. Michael Hutchinson continued his impressive form from last year too, although Pavelec’s excellent form ensured that he wasn’t called upon too often.

Despite some positives, the Jets didn’t do enough to land a playoff berth.
