#4 – More Than 6 In-Ring Competitors

Over the years, THQ & 2K’s WWE series has seen more than its fair share of match type variations, but one constant has always stayed true – no matches allow more than 6 wrestlers in the ring at once. We love our MITB 6-man ladder and brutal Elimination Chamber matches, but fans have been clamoring for the ability to add even more chaos to their universe for years.

Many long for a virtual re-creation of traditional 5 v 5 Survivor Series encounters, or chaotic 8 man ladder matches. Fans point to games such as WWF Royal Rumble 2000, a game which allowed nine players on screen at once, despite being released fifteen years ago. Many assumed that with the greater power available to developers through the XB1 and PS4 consoles, this would be an inevitability.

It all comes down to the fact that we love being able to feel immersed in the WWE universe. Not being able to recreate the main event of Survivor Series, or being forced to halt the entrants in a Royal Rumble match because of in-game limitations removes that element of immersion.

Last year clearly showed us that 2K needed time to get used to the technology available to them. At times, the game struggled to cope with just two players on the screen. An extra year may have paved the way to finally get this feature introduced to the series, even if they need to jump through a few hoops to get there.

Who among us would be happy to forego the detailed crowd animations in order to fit more wrestlers on screen? Is that even a possibility? Hopefully, 2K will find a way to make this long-awaited feature a reality.
