A hacker in the MMOPRG Guild Wars 2 was banned, stripped down, and forced to jump to his death.

Players complained on the Guild War forums about the hacker named J T DarkSide for weeks leading up to the ban. DarkSide exploited player-versus-player fights, attack from other players, inflicting enormous damage in combat, among other hacks.

Chris Cleary, the Game Security lead, addressed the concerns on the forum.

“We don’t need to see it in-game, sometimes good video evidence is enough for me to track down who it was. In this case, the video was enough for me to find out who it was and take action.”

Following the hacker’s ban, Cleary also provided a video depicting the character’s final moments:

“Oh yah, he’s also banned,” Cleary noted in the post. The video shows the hacker’s character being stripped to his underwear and jumping off a bridge to his death. It has been viewed more than 1 million times on YouTube.

The developers did not reveal how DarkSide was able to hack the game. Guild Wars 2, developed by ArenaNet and released in 2012, sold about 4 million copies.
