Baltimore Orioles

Over in opposite land, the Orioles sported immaculate pitching performances out of their rotation in bullpen, while faltering in the home-run-hitting department. Dillon Gee went 14-5 with a 2.42 ERA in his first year in the American League, with a paltry 1.13 WHIP to boot. Wei-Yin Chen showed remarkable control, with just 49 walks all year compared to his 151 strikeouts. Kevin Gausman’s ERA slipped closer to average, but struck out 176 and gave up only 14 homers throughout the year. Plus, A.J. Burnett made some spot starts after getting injured for half the year and getting traded to the Orioles.

Exactly two players sported an OPS above .748 for the Orioles. Those players were Chris Davis (.831) and Adam Jones (.791), showing a softer-hitting side than we’re used to seeing out of the boys in orange. Plus, with few steals outside of the 37 from Everth Cabrera and just 2 players with more than 42 walks, the opportunities to score runs were few and far between. Jonathan Schoop managed a .163 batting average and a .502 OPS over 325 plate appearances, though, which is fairly comical for some reason.
