San Francisco Giants

From first to worst is not an unknown singularity for the Giants, but it is comical nonetheless to see it once more. Absolute perfect pitching seasons from Madison Bumgarner (2.31 ERA, 27 Quality Starts, 226 IP, 229 K’s, 0.97 WHIP) and Matt Cain (2.08 ERA, 27 Quality Starts, 229.2 IP, 197 K’s, 1.04 WHIP were wasted by the rest of the pitching staff. Tim Lincecum, Tim Hudson and Jake Peavy could not keep it together, sharing ERA’s above 5 each and more than 24 home runs given up a piece. Even Sergio Romo’s ERA ballooned to 4.31 as the closer, solidifying a mishmash of good and bad.

The departure of Pablo Sandoval meant other players had to step up, and Brandon Belt did in a big way. His 26 HR, 81 RBI, 10 SB, .314/.382/.518 performance highlighted the best that he could be, even if the rest of the team couldn’t keep up with him. Outside of Buster Posey and his expected excellence, Casey McGehee, Brandon Crawford, Angel Pagan, Joe Panik at the Disco, Joaruin Arias and Gregor Blanco just stunk up the offence. Noted gamer Hunter Pence was doing well, until he got a thumb injury mid-season. Perhaps he was too busy playing MLB 15: The Show and got injured in his excitement.
