Colorado Rockies

When you hear what happened to the Rockies trades this season, one is quick to make references about marijuana legalization, and how all trades from GM’s had to have been done in-state while they were smoking up. How else could you explain a Clayton Kershaw leadership in pitching, with a respectable 2.44 ERA, 28 quality starts, 214 strikeouts, 1.02 WHIP and just 18 home runs allowed in that high-altitude stadium? It doesn’t make up for the fact the remaining starters were the traded-for Tyson Ross, alongside regulars Tyler Matzek, Jordan Lyles and Gus Schlosser, as Kyle Kendrick and Jorge De La Rosa were injured for significant lengths of time.

Again, for a team so high up in the mountains, they didn’t manage to knock too many runs in with the home run ball. Corey Dickerson had 20 home runs, Wilin Rosario had 19 and Nolan Arenado had 16, while others had 13 or fewer total. Even Justin Morneau could not maintain his torrid pace from last year, finishing with just 11 HR, 42 RBI and a slash line of .272/.333/.403. It’s okay, but not what we saw previously. Plus, with only Carlos Gonzalez grabbing 50+ walks and everyone else sitting at 40 or fewer, the bats did not come alive at all this 2015 MLB season for the Rockies.
