Seattle Mariners

For the Mariners pitching staff, it was the good, the okay and the ugly. Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma brought out the good, averaging a 2.48 ERA between them. Their shared 14 complete games, 452 IP and 381 strikeouts were awesome, to say the least, and especially in this day and age of specialist bullpen relievers. J.A. Happ and Taijuan Walker were comparable this season to each other, showing middle-road pitching lines and average ERA. It’s with James Paxton and Charlie Furbush where things got dicey, as a starter of 6.58 ERA and reliever of 6.25 were allowed to pitch with their entire perspective teams for the full year.

For the first time in a while, it’s great to hear Seager playing in my head. He was part of a bolstered, seemingly offense-heavy squad alongside Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz, Justin Ruggiano and Austin Jackson. Each of those players knocked in at least 20 home runs, which is an amazing feat for AJ. 5 players had an OPS of .770+, while the runs, walks and RBI kept pouring in. Still, the Mariners managed to pull a “Blue Jays” and finish 81-81. Joke’s on you guys, now!
