15 New Smash Stages Added For 8-Player Mode
The latest update for Super Smash Bros for Wii U adds 15 new stages, IGN reports. The new Smash stages are specifically designed for 8-player mode.
Don’t get too excited–it’s nothing surprising or completely new. Instead, the update expands on the number of stages you can play during 8-player Smash, adding huge versions of already-known smaller stages. Nine are new to 8-player mode, and six are omega versions. The stages added are as follows:
Regular stages
- Mario Circuit (X)
- Luigi’s Mansion
- Pyrosphere
- Norfair
- Lylat Cruise
- Pokémon Stadium 2
- Animal Crossing – Town and City
- Animal Crossing – Smashville
- Wii Fit Studio
Omega stages
- Mario Galaxy
- Mario Circuit (X)
- Kirby: The Great Cave Offensive
- Lylat Cruise
- Pokémon Stadium 2
- Animal Crossing – Town and City
This is really awesome news, since stage selection in 8-player Smash was getting dull fast as my friends picked Temple for the umpteenth time. This update brings Smash to version 1.0.2. The game is done receiving balance patches, and Sakurai has heavily implied that aside from the already-announced Mewtwo, we won’t be receiving any completely new characters and stages, but it’s nice of them to throw some variety into this portion of the game.
