Next Borderlands Game In Development At Last
When last we heard from Gearbox about the next Borderlands game, Borderlands 3, they were telling Polygon that they weren’t working on the game. This was in February 2014, and Randy Pitchford (CEO of Gearbox) told Polygon then:
"When you think of what Borderlands 3 should be, it should be massive. It should be bigger and better than Borderlands 2. It should carry forward the story. It’s probably crazy multiplatform, depending on timing."
In the meantime, fans have enjoyed Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Tales from the Borderlands from Telltale Games. However, now it sounds like Gearbox is ready to get started on the next Borderlands game. Pitchford Tweeted last night:
The following Tweets are also related to them hiring for the next Borderlands game. Though it isn’t directly stated to be 3, the way Pitchford put it (“This is the big one”) makes it sound like it could be. Though it’s technically been announced now, there’s no telling if they’ve even begun development or if they are hiring to start from scratch, so it’s unlikely we’ll see this game in 2015, though we may get more information later in the year.
