3 – South Park: The Stick of Truth (51 points)

The huge jump in points from the Top 3 and the rest of the list is a testament to the quality of these games. What’s fairly more remarkable is that a licenced video game of a film or TV show, in South Park: The Stick of Truth, meets that high benchmark of quality required to come in at #3.

Half South Park episode, half turn-based RPG in the vein of a Paper Mario title, The Stick of Truth takes the best of both. The sheer amount of effort went into this title is a testament to Matt Stone and Trey Parker both as storytellers and gamers in their own right. With Obsidian’s development going through the gamut of publishers after THQ going defunct, to not only see the light of day, but to capture the hilarity of the comedy duo in a perfect-length game is quite spectacular.

In his review, former GameSided editor Michael wrote: “Despite the poking at the genre, South Park: The Stick of Truth is a game that benefitted greatly from the numerous delays. It has nearly every element that can make a good RPG a great one, and the love for the genre by the show’s writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone shines throughout the adventure.”
