5) Pro Evolution Soccer 2015

My Review

Since I am primarily a sportswriter, I felt the need to include a sports game on this list. Unfortunately, it was mostly a poor year for games in this genre.

It isn’t very often that a game surprises me, and I’m not sure I’ve ever been surprised (in a good way) by a sports game. That is, until PES15 this year.

After being a rather mediocre franchise for an entire console generation, the first next-gen edition of PES showed up in a big way. Forget trying to catch FIFA, PES passed right on by their biggest competitor this year.

PES 2015 wasn’t perfect. Some of the game modes feel very old, but the on-field action is the most realistic simulation ever created. That alone is worth recognition here.
