6 – South Park: The Stick of Truth
The way development had been going, I’m surprised South Park: The Stick of Truth came out so early into 2014! Thankfully it did, as it gave a wider collective the opportunity to experience the genius that is this Matt Stone/Trey Parker creation.
A simple concept; make a South Park episode, thrown in turn-based RPG combat with participating make-believe participants and adults/aliens alike and lay down the framework for the entirety of South Park, CO. What you get is the humor and sharp wit of the Comedy Central program, the RPG sensibilities of Squaresoft and an Earthbound-like hub town. Can’t get any better than that!
Well, except for the five games that I found as better experiences last year.
