This is by far the least complicated game in the mix here. Just goes to show sometimes the best ideas are simple, not wide-ranging concepts. What is the endgame of Velocity 2X? Get your revenge and help save the universe. Do you have a moral crisis? Nope. None of the storytelling traps of larger games exist here. The game is just pure, simple, high speed, challenging fun.
Velocity 2X also has the best soundtrack of the year which prompted numerous impromptu dance parties in my room as I played it. The simplest game will get the shortest explanation. It is so good even though it is challenge based, you never feel like the game is cheating you or want to throw your remote. You just hit the moonwalk and start over again.
