This was a low scoring game in which the final score doesn’t tell the story of just how one-sided it was. If there was one major theme here, it was long methodical drives by the Seahawks that ended field goals or no points.
The Seahawks actually outgained Carolina by almost 200 yards of offense. This includes over 200 yards rushing combined for Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin.
The big problem for the Seahawks was drive stalling in the red zone. Steven Hauschka kicked four field goals and missed another, while Lynch lost a fumble at the goal line. The score line could have been very different with just slightly better red-zone execution by Seattle.
While credit needs to be given to Carolina’s defense for bending but not breaking, Cam Newton and offense weren’t able to get anything going. They totaled just 198 yards of total offense, and were only able to cross into Seattle territory twice the entire game.
