Statistically, the Bills should have won this game. The out-gained the Patriots by nearly 100 yards on offense, and had one less turnover. The problem is that the one turnover they did have was deep in their own end, and the Patriots were able to turn it into seven points.
Plus, two of Buffalo’s field goals were kicked with the line of scrimmage inside the five-yard line. If either of those drive had ended in a touchdown, the Bills would have come away with the win.
This game actually almost ended in a tie. The two teams each had three punts in overtime before the Patriots finally broke through with a long field goal to win with just 47 seconds left in overtime.
