Ubisoft Releases Assassin’s Creed: Identity for iOS
As if we didn’t already have way too many Assassin’s Creed games coming out, Ubisoft just announced yet another. This time, it’s Assassin’s Creed: Identity, for the iPad.
Kotaku reports that this is a 3D action-adventure game available for free download in the iTunes App Stores in Australia and New Zealand as of today. Identity will be released internationally in 2015.
The game allows you to pick from several “classes” of assassins, each with different skills, and takes place in Italy. Typical of an iPad game, you can train new skills on a timer, and speed up that timer for real money. You can also purchase outfits and other “encrypted” items as well. The game looks pretty, and its description in the App store emphasizes the customizability of the assassins…though, with that, it’s interesting to note that there is still no female character option.

It’s a pretty good indication that Ubisoft is overdoing it when all the headlines about this game sound exasperated. Slow down, guys. Your loyal fans are more than willing to wait longer for one really good game. If Ubisoft keeps churning out titles like this, they run the risk of losing the attention of their audience. Though I’ll be playing Unity when it comes out, I’ll pass on everything else. There’s too many titles to pay attention to right now.
