After falling behind 10-0 early int he third quarter, the Detroit Lions did everything they could to keep this one close. The two teams traded scores throughout the second half, and Detroit just wasn’t ever able to wrestle the lead away from Carolina.
Ultimately, it was Carolina’s rushing attack that won the game for the Panthers. Williams and Stewart combined for 172 yards, and Cam Newton added 34 yards on the ground as well.
For the Lions, the offense was mostly a two-man show. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson’s 98 yards led all receivers, and Reggie Bush added 94 rushing yards and 32 yards receiving as well.
