“Shocking” New Pokemon Game: Pokken Tournament
Last week, Pokemon fans were promised a “shocking” new Pokemon announcement. Just now, Pokemon Company President Tsunekazu Ishihara announced the game “Pokken Tournament” during a NicoNico livestream. You can view a trailer here:
Pokken Tournament is a fighting game, and a joint effort with Bandai/Namco, the producers of Tekken. Fighters shown in the trailer include Machamp and Lucario. The game is set to release in Japan in 2015, and will be an arcade game. This sounds like disappointing news for western fans without a large arcade culture, but Bulbagarden gives some hope:
With the popularity of Pokemon worldwide, it seems unlikely that such a game would be limited to Japan. Hopefully we’ll hear news of Pokken Tournament, at least in North America, sometime in the near future.
