E3 2014: Xbox One Exclusive ‘Scalebound’ Announced

Platinum Games must be that Japanese Xbox One exclusive that was previously mentioned, as Hideki Kamiya announced Scalebound for the very first time during

Combining a high-fantasy medieval forest setting and creatures (such as a massive dinosaur-like creatures and a dragon) with the futuristic sensibilities of a game like Crysis, we saw an unnamed, bleach-blonde protagonist wield a sword while wearing headphones around the collar of his jacket. Using a Crysis-like bow, it looked as though the monsters our protagonist were facing were more interested in each other, opening up unique gameplay possibilities.

It was only after performing the killing blow that we truly understood why the game is called Scalebound: our hero uses some sort of magical scale hide as an armor. Additionally, he can control conquered monsters to take on even bigger foes.

Scalebound will be released exclusively on Xbox One.
