Mortal Kombat X Officially Announced, Complete With Reveal Trailer
UPDATE: Kotaku is reporting that Mortal Kombat X will be officially coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 next year. Furthermore, the game will be the first to feature various combat and strategy styles for its characters, providing completely different feels through customization.
ORIGINAL: After about a month of relentless teasing (with the subtlety of a bull in a china shop), Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios have officially announced Mortal Kombat X. The name reveal comes with its own trailer, providing the release date range of 2015.
Even though the combat shown looks to be a computer-generated matchup between Scorpion and Subzero instead of actual gameplay footage, perhaps we can expect more from Mortal Kombat X as we come to just one week away from E3 2014. Although disappointing for visual aficionados that the game looks like it will be developed for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in addition to PS4, Xbox One and PC, the quicker that fighting games transition to 8th-generation consoles, the better. It will take some time before last-gen consoles are developed for at all.
Check out the trailer above to get the first glimpse of Mortal Kombat X, featuring the rap stylings of Wiz Khalifa. Hopefully Scorpion’s Fatality move from the video will remain as awesome within the video game when it is completed in 2015!
