Check out Wasteland 2’s Opening Movie
By Jon McSwain
The upcoming RPG Wasteland 2 has released an opening movie ahead of the upcoming release. The developers InExile began a Kickstarter campaign in 2012 with an original goal of $900,000. When the donations nearly toppled $3 million, the planned launch date was changed from October 2013 until August 2014. With the larger than anticipated funds, the developers took some extra time to broaden the scope of the game.
For those not aware, this is a sequel to the 1988 cult-classic Wasteland. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where there is complete anarchy. It is centered around a group of engineers that have taken control of a prison and made it their safe house. In the process of taking the prison, they sent many heinous prisoners roaming freely into the desert. After a while the prisoners became savages, laying waste to anything and everyone. Your goal, save what few normal people are stranded among the flesh-eating prisoners.
The game is expected to launch sometime this August and will be available on PC, Mac and Linux. According to Gamespot, the game
"spectacularly balances the older style of classic PC RPGs and more modern sensibilities"
