Neverwinter: Tyranny Of Dragons To Go Live On August 14

See, this is why you should never allow dragons to be in charge. Tyranny is always the result. Tyranny I tell you!

Actually, what the title of this post is referring to is the fourth module or expansion for Neverwinter, Perfect World and Cryptic’s free-to-play MMO set in the Forgotten Realms world made famous by Dungeons & Dragons. It’s also tied closely to the tabletop RPG storyline of the same name that features an evil cult that is trying to resurrect Tiamat, an incredibly powerful Chromatic Dragon that I remember being spoken about in hushed tones during my D&D days a few decades ago.

“This is a pivotal year for Dungeons & Dragons and we are thrilled to have Perfect World and Cryptic on board to make Neverwinter a key part of the D&D experience as we transition to the future,” Dungeons & Dragons Brand Director Nathan Stewart said in a press release. “The new Tyranny of Dragons module is just the beginning of us bringing our new serialized entertainment to the fans of both tabletop and digital games.”

Since the current module, Curse of Icewind Dale, was just released last week, the developers aren’t shedding any light on Tyranny of Dragons just yet. Maybe we’ll be able to get something out of them at E3, but if not, you can at least rest assured that more content is on the way during the dog days of summer — or maybe we’ll call them the dragon days after this.
