Wolfenstein: The New Order Launch Trailer Kicks Nazi Butt
Something that went away after the slew of World War II shooters is the Nazi-as-enemy familiarity. Bethesda hopes to bring that back in their launch trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order, as our protagonist William “B.J.” Blazkowicz vows to get bloody revenge in this alternate, dystopian 1960’s-era FPS.
What you see is what you have come to expect from a Wolfenstein game: explosions, bloody murder and a hellscape in which the Nazi’s have won World War II. I like whenever games provide unruly, monstrous weapons that operate like guns in the real world but provide sci-fi aspects, and The New Order seems to do this in droves.
Pre-ordering the game will also give you access to the beta for the upcoming Doom game, with Bethesda hoping to draw in a larger audience than just Wolfenstein fans with their newest title. We’ll have to see if a huge sales spike will be the end result.
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be released on May 20th on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360. Germany will receive a censored version that is geo-locked to remove all notions of Nazi-ism. Check out the launch trailer below.
